Glitch

Looking to buy my paintings? Click the tab above titled "Paintings". Thank you!!
---
My blog glitched when I was editing the layout and now all the things that ought to appear to the right, in the sidebar, appear at the bottom of all the posts. Hopefully it can get fixed before too long! **Update** It seems that, for some unidentifiable reason, the sidebar is only found below when on the home page, if you go to any other page of my blog it is in its rightful place. Mischievous little fellow! **If you are searching for the "follow" button, the PayPal to order my paintings, the list of all previously published posts, the blog roll of my friends overseas, or the link to my previous blog... they are all in the content of the sidebar which is still stubbornly staying at the very bottom of this page. To access it without having to scroll all the way down simply go to any of the other pages of my blog by clicking the tabs above. Sorry for the inconvenience!**

Revival

Into to "The Great Awakening", new song by Leeland.

Lets see God revive our Nation's sleepy, lukewarm Christianity.

---

All great soul-winners have been men of much and mighty prayer, and all great revivals have been preceded and carried out by persevering, prevailing knee-work in the closet.
– Samuel Brengle –

God’s time for revival is the very darkest hour, when everything seems hopeless. It is always the Lord’s way to go to the very worst cases to manifest His glory.

– Andrew Gih –

The mighty men of God, who throughout the centuries have wrought great things by prayer, are the men who have had much painful toil in prayer. Take for example, David Brainerd, that physically feeble, but spiritually mighty man of God. Trembling for years on the verge of consumption tuberculosis), from which he ultimately died at an early age, Brainerd felt led of God to labor among the North American Indians in the early days (1700′s), in the primeval forests of Northern Pennsylvania, and sometimes of a winter night he would go out into the forest and kneel in the cold snow when it was a foot deep and so labor with God in prayer that he would be wringing wet with perspiration even out in the cold winter night hours. And God heard David Brainerd, and sent such a mighty revival among the North American Indians as had never been heard of before, as indeed had never been dreamed about.
– R. A. Torrey –

Our mistake is that we want God to send revival on our terms. We want to get the power of God into our hands, to call it to us that it may work for us in promoting and furthering our kind of Christianity. We want still to be in charge, guiding the chariot through the religious sky in the direction we want it to go, shouting “Glory to God,” but modestly accepting a share of the glory for ourselves in a nice inoffensive sort of way. We are calling on God to send fire on our altars, completely ignoring the fact that they are OUR altars and not God’s….
– A. W. Tozer –

To look back upon the progress of the divine kingdom upon earth is to review revival periods which have come like refreshing showers upon dry and thirsty ground, making the desert to blossom as the rose, and bringing new eras of spiritual life and activity just when the Church had fallen under the influence of the apathy of the times, and needed to be aroused to a new sense of her duty and responsibility…. Every mighty move of the Spirit of God has had its source in the prayer chamber.

Be Aware: Europe

GEM - Greater Europe Mission

I recently read "Secret Believers: What Happens When Muslims Believe" and learned that often times people from Muslim background will leave their countries and go to Europe for school and while they are there there is a chance that they will hear about the Gospel and the truth goes with them back to their home-lands. In other situations Muslims will flee their families and countries because they have become aware of the truth of the Gospel and their lives are threatened if they remain in their own country and near their family, but when they immigrate then there is an opportunity for them to be discipled. I suppose there are similar opportunities in Europe to share the Gospel with or disciple people of many other religious backgrounds too.

One of my dear Ellerslie sisters, Kelsey N, is in France for about a year with GEM. Pray for her. Pray for the missionaries there. Pray for open doors to speak truth into the lost lives of the people of France.

Revelation 3:7-13
King James Version (KJV)
And to the angel of the church in Philadelphia write; These things saith he that is holy, he that is true, he that hath the key of David, he that openeth, and no man shutteth; and shutteth, and no man openeth; I know thy works: behold, I have set before thee an open door, and no man can shut it: for thou hast a little strength, and hast kept my word, and hast not denied my name. Behold, I will make them of the synagogue of Satan, which say they are Jews, and are not, but do lie; behold, I will make them to come and worship before thy feet, and to know that I have loved thee. Because thou hast kept the word of my patience, I also will keep thee from the hour of temptation, which shall come upon all the world, to try them that dwell upon the earth. Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown. Him that overcometh will I make a pillar in the temple of my God, and he shall go no more out: and I will write upon him the name of my God, and the name of the city of my God, which is new Jerusalem, which cometh down out of heaven from my God: and I will write upon him my new name. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.

For His glory

"Christianity says that the end of all being is the glory of God. Humanism says the end of all being is the happiness of man. And one was born in hell, the deification of man, and the other was born in heaven, the glorification of God."
There is only one reason to be saved and that is that God is worthy of the obedience He demands.
You shouldn't come to Jesus because you'll go to heaven, have joy and victory on earth, or be filled with the Holy Spirit -- you will have all those things through Him but they are a byproduct not a primary basis -- You should come to Jesus because only through death to self and His life filling and living through you will
He get glory
out of your life.
"Is not the Lamb that was slain worthy to receive the reward of His suffering?!"

Reasons to go

I learned about Visiting Orphans a few years ago, quite a few actually. I didn't notice what the ministry was called but I was captivated by the subtitles of the various countries, "India: 35,000,000 reason to go", "China: 50,000,000 reasons to go", "Africa: 42,000,000 reasons to go", etc. It made me stop in my tracks. It made me hold my breath. It made me think, "That ought to be more than enough reasons." Learning about VO is one of my earliest memories of having my heart awakened to the cause of the orphan.
I rediscovered VO last spring and have frequented their website since then during my time at Ellerslie and since returning home. I fully intend to go on at least one trip with them in the course of my life-time. Big Brother, James, recently got a job there which has only made my loyalty and high opinion of the ministry increase.
That said, there are not 35million reasons for me to go to India, there are not 42million reasons for me to go to Africa and there are not 50million reasons for me to go to China, there is only ONE reasons for me to GO: HIM.* <3

Be Aware: Thailand and Laos

Nik -- an Ellerslie brother of mine -- recently published a blog post about his trip to Thailand and Laos. It is well worth the read!
"It was a feeling I had never felt before, and I’m not sure I want to feel it again. Yet I praise God I felt something. I felt a little as though I had been punched in the stomach.... "

Seasons

Isn't it romantic how the seasons change?
Days that are bright blue, sunny, humid, hot, buzzing bugs, lush trees, flourishing plants, tremendous thunderstorms, pools and lake and rivers with their abundance of visitors, skin that has soaked up so much of the warm, yellow sunshine that it's turned brown... then the Lord tells the South-wind to cease and wakes up the North-wind and after a few days the bright blue changes to a delicious grey, the sun is filtered by clouds, humidity flies away with the coming of the crisp breeze, buzzing bugs begin to buzz less, lush trees transform into fiery hues of red, orange and yellow, rain falls more often but its more leisurely and often cover an entire day with the soothing sound of water drops colliding with the unfinished summer projects, the final gathering of produce from gardens and the cozy little houses. Visitors to the bodies of water stop wading into them but choose rather to curl up in quaint coffee shops nearby them and observe the arresting weather. The brown skin is hidden by layers of soft, thick, comfy sweaters or dense, pleasant jackets, heavy scarves, and wool socks. The pace of summer slows and we ease into autumn. From iced tea, popsicles, watermelon and grilled burgers to fresh bread, hearty soups, hot chai, and apple pie. Reflecting on the adventures of the passing season and settling into the season of studies, harvest, preparation and planning for holidays. From laying in the grass, basking in the sun, hearing clothes flap as the dry on the line to nestling into a porch swing or sofa, reading piles of beautiful books, and soaking in every moment of the gradual changes of my familiar scenery.
Life is so charming!

A life that is committed to wait on Him will always be effective,
because the ministry originated with Him is fulfilled by Him.
